Cycling the canal network

Postby Steve » Sun Jan 31, 2016 12:36 pm

Granted it isn't the most exciting form of cycling. However it is an excellent way of getting around, the towpath is usually smooth and flat. The scenery can be worthwhile as well, the countryside can be stunning and the industrial quality of the buildings fronting the canal in towns is interesting.

There are over 2000 miles of maintained paths suitable for cycling on the canal and river network.

Got a lot of canal pathways by me, but they seem to be a puncture minefield. From thorns to fishing hooks always something to wreck the ride.
