The Malvern Hills

Post by Steve » Fri Mar 06, 2015 3:10 pm

I love the Malverns, I lived at the bottom of the hills for a while. They are a great place for walking or cycling, although it can get a little busy during the weekends in the summer.

Most days you will see someone out on a bike, from a gas pipe BSO to the latest super expensive full sus rig.

This is my Endorphin half way along the ridge:

No, its in storage at a friends house.

I'm hoping it will be back up as a rider soon.

My brother lives on Holywell lane at the base of the hills.
I can vouch for a great ride out. Lots of switchbacks / trails on the sides as well as the route on the top.
On them every time i visit :-)

Had a bit of a mental blockage im afraid  I was thinking of the one Mike Muz is doing at the mo but that was yellow .
I had a quick spin round the pits at Newnham Park on one when they first came out , it was plain black / carbon with yellow decals . :D

I've not ridden the hills at Malvern for a long time, so today I went up there again.

Filling the water bottles at the spring before I started:

At the top, Worcestershire Beacon:

One of the routes down:

And a nice little brick staircase to bounce down:

Fresh spring water, filtered down through the rocks of the hills. There are a whole bunch of springs around Malvern, people are always filling bottles at them.

From the town to the top of Worcestershire Beacon is about three and a half miles by road, but it goes up 1000 feet.
